When Music Meets Moonlight and Wildlife
Commissioned by the Polaris Music Prize for its 10th anniversary concert, this poster was created to celebrate a remarkable pairing: Owen Pallett and Tanya Tagaq, performing live at Toronto’s historic Massey Hall. The illustration leans into a moody, limited colour palette—chosen to evoke the raw intensity, mystery, and northern energy that both artists channel in their music.
The composition places Massey Hall at the heart of a surreal, dreamlike scene: towering pines, a luminescent moon, and symbolic Canadian wildlife converge around the venue, creating a visual world that reflects the emotional landscape of the concert. A winding fox and a watchful bear add a mythic element to the piece, grounding it in storytelling and atmosphere.
Produced as a special-edition art print, the poster merges the iconic with the otherworldly, honouring the artistry of two trailblazing musicians and the legacy of Polaris.
