Bringing Murdoch Mysteries to Life for a Symphony Stage
Creating illustrations for television is always a joy – but this project carried a special kind of magic. Fresh off an evening at the symphony with my partner, I had the opportunity to illustrate a feature piece for Murdoch Mysteries in Concert, an immersive event where the series is performed live alongside a full orchestra.
This Toronto illustration debuted at Roy Thomson Hall and became the foundation for a larger national series. I went on to illustrate seven additional location-specific artworks for the other cities on the concert tour, each one blending local landmarks, period detail, and the show’s signature Murdoch charm to create a cohesive visual experience across the country.
Designed as a celebratory, wintery tableau of Toronto architecture, classic Murdoch iconography, and orchestral flourish, the debut illustration bridges the nostalgia of the show with the energy of a live musical performance.
This project was an honour – and a thrilling opportunity to expand the world of Murdoch Mysteries through illustration.
