A Toronto Love Letter for FIKA at Union Station
FIKA Cannabis approached me to create a large-scale illustration for their Union Station storefront – a mural that would celebrate Toronto with warmth, personality, and a touch of whimsy. The result is a vibrant city portrait that layers iconic landmarks with playful narrative details, inviting commuters and visitors alike to pause, look closer, and take a breather.
At the centre sits Union Station, reimagined as a golden gateway framed by lush, stylized foliage and the bold FIKA wordmark. Around it, Toronto unfolds as a lively collage: cyclists, streetcar riders, and waterfront wanderers mingle with the AGO, the CN Tower, and neighbourhood architecture. Hidden moments – like a 4:20 streetcar, a cheeky flyover banner reading Take a Breather, and small character interactions sprinkled throughout – reward anyone who slows down long enough to explore the illustration’s layers.
Designed to welcome thousands of daily commuters, the mural captures the rhythm of the city while delivering the relaxed, modern spirit at the heart of FIKA’s brand. A joyful, richly detailed tribute to Toronto – right in the centre of where the city moves.
