A Whimsical Ride for Fixed Gear Brewing’s Jim Cuddy Red Ale
One of my favourite beer projects, this label for Fixed Gear Brewing’s Jim Cuddy Harvest Red Ale combines two things I love: illustration and cycling. Inspired by Fixed Gear’s namesake and Jim Cuddy’s iconic presence in Canadian music, I created a playful woodland fox—guitar strapped to his back—pedalling down a winding autumn road. The illustration leans into warmth, charm, and movement, capturing the easygoing spirit of the beer and the brewery’s community-focused identity.
Beyond the can itself, I extended the artwork into custom 24-pack trays, designing a full packaging system that brings the fox, the bike, and the harvest palette into a cohesive retail presence. The dieline allowed for bold panel illustrations and repeating motifs, ensuring the product stands out whether it’s on a shelf, stacked in cases, or rolling out for a seasonal release.
The final result is a beer that feels like a story—crafted with care, a little bit cheeky, and unmistakably Fixed Gear.
